Re: We're off on holiday...

We're not off on holiday. We'd planned to go to Ghent next Sunday (postponed since April 2020), but have just bowed to the inevitable omicron and postponed our train tickets till June next year. We're now looking for somewhere in the UK to go from next weekend... Sorry to hear that. Hope you find a...

Alastair Stewart has recently decided to spend most of his waking hours tweeting.

He's posted a bit about cyclists and road safety recently.

Anyone who replies and mentions drink driving (he's been convicted twice) gets an instant block from him.
Thanks for the tip.

Re: TV/Streaming shows

Whataboutism seems to last resort of the die hard fan to defend the indefensible. While I'd be surprised is Deadringers has many die hard fans, it's not indefensible. So it just strikes me as odd. I've already been responsible for introducing you to Naked Attraction. For that I am sorry. But I hone...

I don't know anything about football songs, but I do rather prefer the current longer-length shorts, much more flattering.
For those who disagree, there are alternative ways of wearing them...

It just seems like classic whataboutism to me, which is confusing as I am used to seeing it only used to defend something. @@Iris, you aren't defending Deadringers, are you?
It's hardly beyond the pale. It probably started off better. I thought The Public Sector Boromir Requirement gag was funny.

Re: TV/Streaming shows

And predictable safe smug satire like Coldwar Steve, Steve Bell and that shouty sweary man whose videos sometimes pop up on here? I take it you're not bothered about borrowing my CWS jigsaw then? I definitely wouldn't describe Bell as either smug or safe - the Guardian's been spiking or apologising...

Re: TV/Streaming shows

I don't mind them saying who they are on Dead Ringers, because I am not sure I would recognise Keir Starmer's voice anyway. But the jokes are risible and often offensive. Particularly bad was their skewering of intimacy coordinators in the first episode. It was a few days after I heard Michaela Coe...

Re: Very specific train question

A ticket office person once sorted out a seemingly intractable ticketing problem for me, and said rather sadly, 'They pay us to sit here helping people, it's what we do. You're always better off talking to a real person.' A bit sweeping, admittedly (surly ticket office personnel definitely exist) b...

Re: Very specific train question

With the caveat that I've only been on a train once in 15 months so it might not be representative, I needed to book a day return to Cardiff with a bike last Thursday evening. Online the train I wanted was not only showing as fully booked for bikes but was highlighted with dire warnings about capaci...

I had no idea what Naked Attraction is.

🤯

I see no need to ever watch broadcast TV again.

Re: TV/Streaming shows

it dawned on me very early on that it was based on a trick - superficially about a bunch of fantastically independent, sexually liberated feminists, it was actually just the same old boring 'ladies in search of their true princes' romance, but spiced with a bit of naughty talk. See also the ghastly...

Re: TV/Streaming shows

I have never watched SATC. Reading Hadley Freeman, that makes me feel like a less good person; reading you, it makes me feel perhaps not such a bad person.... Edit: I've only ever watched a couple of episodes of the Sopranos either, so it probably just makes me a culturally limited person. I've sor...
