Staged. Michael Sheen and David Tennant and friends playing versions of themselves meeting over VC. It's funny, each episode is short and born out of great affection between all the actors.
That, plus Jonathan Creek. Even the very early episodes have aged quite well.

Re: Small lobbying gains or self delusion?
I'm often in the Rutabaga camp too, but I will extract it from its envelope.
On the timeline thing, print magazines do often have a long leadin. An article I wrote in the second half of March for my professional mag was finally published a couple of days ago.

I never thought one of Busoni's blustering expansions of Bach would be such an emotional experience.

Fasted? Really? Why?!
For 100km I'd want to eat well, before, during and after. Personally I'd have gone in the other direction, too. But that's a matter of taste.

Re: TV/Streaming shows
Personally I got used to the theatrical *acting* pretty quickly. That might be because I'm used to the artifice of opera.

Re: TV/Streaming shows
We watched some of One Man, Two Guvners. I don't know whether it doesn't translate to TV or is just rubbish, but it was rubbish. We loved it. In the shock of week two and after the madness of early March it was the first time I laughed out loud for ages. We've also enjoyed the Covent Garden Glorian...

Other forthright bishops are available - including the one covering this county. And I seem to remember the Bishop of Willesden's boss not being too happy about Welby's pronouncement.

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread
When you have lost the Bishop of Willesden, you have lost the nation. That's a common saying, right? https://twitter.com/petespurs/status/1264594301738246144?s=19 Wikipedia does suggest that he's a Labour party member. Which is curious as his theological background (protegé of George Carey, low chu...

Fucking Cummings. Johnson is not only being corrupt, but dumb - this one will run and run, and Starmer will make hay at the next PMQs. I've just written a snotty note to my (Tory) MP. The last time I did that her assistant wrote back and told me she'd just been bereaved. I wonder what will happen th...

Re: This made me laugh.....
That amused me. When I was younger I spent quite a lot of time while not listening to the chaplain looking at this... 3551682430_950e9c3d35_c.jpg I've only just realised that the Jerusalem Jesus is flying above bears more than a passing resemblance to the sexy new buildings in mid-17th century Oxford.

Re: Small lobbying gains or self delusion?
Must it?
Even in the 1880s it was actively lobbying and taking action to make cycling accessible and safe for all.

Re: Small lobbying gains or self delusion?
This is the point, of course. I'm sure none of us have forgotten that about ten years ago we had a mahoosive and somewhat bitter row about what the organisation is for, and those of us who thought it should act in its members' interests lost that battle to those who thought it should aim to win as ...

Re: Small lobbying gains or self delusion?
I think they have appointed a caretaker, to keep the organisation ticking along until "autumn". And that is a huge mistake. Have you been out there? I was in London (where I accidentally ran into a friend in Trafalgar Square; what are the chances? 🤨), and it's a cycling mecca. Families out enjoying...
