I've been using my period of enforced isolation to make a sourdough culture... IMG_20200329_132758.jpg IMG-20200328-WA0001.jpg The bread turned out pretty well. I think I allowed the dough to prove for slightly too long and it needed another five minutes in the oven, but all in all, very acceptable....

In the absence of a wine thread, I've bottled last year's homebrew. Apple and grape, surprisingly nice.

I was thinking of expressing my support for NHS staff by running a bath for my wife, which would at least have the merits of being sincere and spontaneous rather than coerced.

It was rather lovely to see everyone out in the street.

I read somewhere that last night, Sadiq suggested all construction sites be closed but Boris over ruled him.

Probably because there's no support in place for self-employed builders.

We've reviewed our construction projects and concluded that none of them can operate with required social distancing, so we're closing them down. It does make me wonder how many construction sites could genuinely operate in compliance with current guidance.

Yet the guidance published this evening is "Travelling to and from work, but only where this absolutely cannot be done from home"

"travel for essential work" is very different to "essential travel for work". Some clarity would be helpful.

Six more sign ups today! Everyone is being so generous.

I really hope it's overkill, but even in worst case scenarios, we shall have some able bodied helpers.

I managed to collect prescriptions and post letters for a neighbour last week, but now we're self-isolating too.

I feel duty bound to support my local shop.

I've been lesson planning.

I've asked the entire team to work from home, and we had no-one in the office today. I spent some of today calculating the costs of the projects we're stopping or delaying. But I'm more concerned about everyone's wellbeing: the effects of anxiety and isolation will be difficult to manage.
