Re: Beer
IMG_20200328_163834.jpg Open Up - 3.9% pale. A nice, hoppy and bitter session ale. There's a story behind this: a collaboration between BBF and "Talk Club", a group set up locally for male mental wellbeing, it was supposed to be on sale in local pubs, so the brewery packaged it in mini kegs to stop...

Re: Food stories
I've been using my period of enforced isolation to make a sourdough culture... IMG_20200329_132758.jpg IMG-20200328-WA0001.jpg The bread turned out pretty well. I think I allowed the dough to prove for slightly too long and it needed another five minutes in the oven, but all in all, very acceptable....

Re: Beer
In the absence of a wine thread, I've bottled last year's homebrew. Apple and grape, surprisingly nice.

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread
Then I apologise if my cynicism in any way detracted from the experience. Our 80 year old neighbours standing quietly in their front garden clapping was indeed moving and made me feel bad. Our neighbours further along the street vying with each other to see who could make most ostentatious noise (t...

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread
We've reviewed our construction projects and concluded that none of them can operate with required social distancing, so we're closing them down. It does make me wonder how many construction sites could genuinely operate in compliance with current guidance.

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread
"travel for essential work" is very different to "essential travel for work". Some clarity would be helpful.

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread
Oh dear! Are you protecting yourselves, or do you fear you may have had contact? Either way, I hope you have a similar helper when you need it. Stay well. Thanks. My daughter has a persistent cough. Ordinarily, I wouldn't even keep her off school, but we can't take the risk. There's a pretty good c...

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread
I've asked the entire team to work from home, and we had no-one in the office today. I spent some of today calculating the costs of the projects we're stopping or delaying. But I'm more concerned about everyone's wellbeing: the effects of anxiety and isolation will be difficult to manage.
