Your Ride Today
Re: Your Ride Today
I took my mtb out today for the first time for over a year; I'd forgotten what a pleasure it is to ride. It's a bike I mostly built myself, from a wreck I bought for thirty quid.
On the train to the meeting-point, I saw a guy get off with a small child in a buggy. He (the adult, not the small child) then unfolded the foot rests on one of those electric single wheels that you stand on, and sailed off down the platform into the underpass pushing the buggy. How cool is that? Or lazy git, depending on your pov.

That's not quite LWL/Severn Across. Was it an event or just a - ahem - pootle?
Edit: Well done, obviously!

Not quite a trip to Bristol, but I did 18 miles this morning, the first outing for nine months.

I'm sure when I looked at home there were three trains an hour on the Aylesbury route. At Wendover it was mysteriously only one - fortunately within 10 minutes.

Extending the miles. North Buckinghamshire is less precipitous than the south, but still not flat.
And I don't know if this is a standard issue memorial, but it's the first I've seen and a nice change from the standard issue camp soldier leaning on his gun. It's in Thornborough, outside Buckingham.

Today was my first outing for nine months with The Black Horse Riders, seventeen of us in total who headed off for either a 20 or a 40 mile spin, meeting back at the pub for beer and cake.

Re: Your Ride Today
The headwind across the fens was a bit fierce today as I rode from King's Lynn to just outside Ely, but some of the route was below the banks of the ten-mile drain, I think it was, so there was a chance to recover. It's great to be back slow touring again, after months of uncertainty over health stuff prevented me from making any cycling plans :-).
