Re: UK politics

He can't come back, can he? It's hard to gauge things given the battering on twitter at the moment.

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread

I had a text from the GP about 3 weeks ago, inviting me in for flu and covid jabs on one of two open days. I'm 51. I went last Saturday. Very well organised and no queuing. It seemed like they were using every space and every member of staff. One in each arm, out of the door in less than 5 minutes. ...

Re: We're off on holiday...

We managed a few days in Romania last month. It was touch and go whether we would go, but it felt safer than the UK.

Twice in my life I've been left geniunely speechless by a view. 3 years ago it was Sinaia in Transylvania. Last month it was the Danube Delta.

Re: TV/Streaming shows

I've only recently found Norsemen.

It's Norwegian, spoken in English, and worth it just for the accents. It starts off good and wavers but is worth sticking with. Funny, explicit, weird.

Re: TV/Streaming shows

I didn’t really get into Squid Game until the tug of war, which was brilliant. My favourite recent streamathon has been The Queen’s Gambit, which I just watched again. Still waiting for Better Call Saul and Ozark to finish their runs. https://youtu.be/tzdt8mHxuUc The tug of war was that good that w...

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread

I volunteered today (first time in months). We turned away anyone who got their second dose after April Fool's Day. Walk-ins without appointment got through. I don't know if they have been invited or not. I spent an interesting time queuing. It stretched back up the path from the centre, alongside ...

Waiting to get my invite, however I will be having my flu jab in a couple of weeks time.
If you're over "that age" you can book online before the invitation.

Obviously you're a long way from that.

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread

There's a thing going around Instagram claiming censorship as the #naturalimmunity hashtag has been blocked by Instagram. If you search #naturalimmunity you get the #naturalimmunity page which is full of people ranting that #naturalimmunity has been removed from the Instagram search, along with all ...

Re: Twitter watch

Alastair Stewart has recently decided to spend most of his waking hours tweeting.

He's posted a bit about cyclists and road safety recently.

Anyone who replies and mentions drink driving (he's been convicted twice) gets an instant block from him.

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread

I see the government are being crafty again. Last week a survey said that the majority of the public think freedom days is too soon. Rather than being seen to backtrack on their "its up to you" new mask guidance, the line from this morning is that they expect people to continue to wear masks. I don'...

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread

That makes no sense. Child 2 has been in close contact with someone who tested positive, the dad. They should isolate. I don't know the rules though. Wouldn't contact tracing help here, or indeed the app? You're right, it makes no sense. On the same picture on the gov website it provides a link for...
