Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread

Can this virus be caught through a cut in the skin? I thought it was transmitted through breathing and via mucous membranes in the mouth, nose, and eyes? Yeah my understanding is that most wound infection risk is about bacteria. Having said that, I would imagine severely dry, cracked hands give pat...

As mentioned elsewhere, I have just logged on to FB for the first time in years. Sadly, Facebook bullshit loyalty tests are still a thing.

On a brighter note, I am starting to lean into the Capaldi thing. 👴 👵
I absolutely hate those things.

I reckon that instead of heading for Cornwall or the Highlands, everyone should pack up and move to Ambridge, where no one has even heard of coronavirus. :-)

What strikes me is the stuff that people aren't taking off the shelves. Loads of anchovies available for instance.
Madness. Anchovies are about the biggest bang for your buck you can get from a store cupboard ingredient. And they make you live forever.

Re: Rotor Mystery

Thanks peeps. I'm gonna try stuff in this order: 1) a different removal tool, on the offchance it's thinner-walled. 2) LD's screwdriver trick 3) emptying my hub bearings all over the floor.

Re: Rotor Mystery

I'd say that your axle locknut is incompatible with an internally splined lockring, except that you managed to install it... I reckon the easiest option is to undo the axle locknut on one side, and maybe change the lockring for the externally splined type for future ease. I caveat this by saying th...

Rotor Mystery

I am attempting to do away with the brooding discontent that has always accompanied the disc-brake setup on my Kaffenback. Some members will be aware of the long and tedious history of my disagreement with TRP Spyres, and more than one person here has helped me try to solve it. Anyway, I've decided ...

Re: UK politics

Follow the link in the article. That particular claim derives from an opinion poll in which a very specific question was asked. There is only one man to blame for the widespread contempt in which Corbyn is held. His name is Jeremy Corbyn. My contention isn't based solely on Chakrabortty's article. ...

Jonathan Freedland is really good when he's angry. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/dec/13/corbynism-labour-left-party No he isn't, and he's been constantly angry for four years. He's part of the reason why there are so many people who didn't trust Corbyn. And he's wrong to think they...

Re: UK politics

So I have a dilemma: should I vote tactically for Lib Dem or not? My constituency is usually regarded as safe Tory and I've never felt any problem at voting Labour. I strongly suspect that the same applies this time, that the odious Tory will get back in comfortably, and I should vote Labour once a...
