Re: Your Ride Today

Exmouth Exodus last night. It was a cracker, and we finished before the rain hit. Got a proper soaking on the way back to Exeter so dried out in the pub. 220km on the clock.

Re: Handlebar grips

Me too. You can get thicker varieties marketed for CX, which may be the way to go.

Oh, that reminds me. The idea that someone might be attracted to golf because they're an introvert is utter bollocks. In golf you're taking a three-hour walk with someone, so you're having to talk to them.
My guess is that an introvert would prefer to not spoil a good walk.

Re: The book thread

Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman They say: Twenty-nine-year-old accounting clerk Eleanor Oliphant tends to stick to her routine: work all week, buy a supermarket pizza and two bottles of vodka on Friday, and spend the weekend alone in a drunken stupor waiting for Monday to arrive...

The book thread

I'd like to kick off a thread for books you've enjoyed, or not. I'd suggest a bit of blurb followed by what you thought of it, and whether you'd recommend it to others.

Re: Your Ride Today

Scuzzy photo of weekend adventures. Exmouth Exodus this weekend. I shall be bringing Fridays-style refreshment to the south west.

Re: Your Ride Today

We camped at Vallis Veg just outside Frome. I can post the route up once I've downloaded it. Some parts were too overgrown to ride down but it was mostly fine, especially if you have some MTB experience. It was very hilly!

Re: Your Ride Today

Just got back from my overnight adventure. I'm filthy, bloodied and knackered. It was brilliant.

Re: Your Ride Today

Wow! Sounds fun. Mrs R and I rode our Bromptons down to Frome (from Oxford) 6 week’s ago. Part of the route took in the Ridgeway - I’ve decided that 18” wheels aren’t really the thing for off roading. It’s beautiful countryside all the way. Nice! The Ridgeway is a cracking ride, but gets very muddy...

Re: Your Ride Today

I'm trying this bikepacking mularkey tonight: leave work early, ride down to Frome on cyclepaths and bridleways, set up tent, go out for curry. Ride back to Brizzle tomorrow via paths and bridleways again.

Re: A balloon biking attempt

I'd be interested in how you get on. I bought an Arkose earlier this year - great bike, but the 37c tyres (WTB Riddlers) are a touch narrow for rocky off-road use, and I need to run higher pressures than I'd like to avoid pinch flats, which reduces grip. Ideally I'd run 45c and convert to tubeless....
