Re: Flying with your bike this summer?
I know someone who had been taking his carbon bike to Majorca for training camps every year, until the frame got broken in transit (on the way out, even more unfortunately). After that he never travelled a bike on an airline again.

Re: Disk brakes
It’s not just braking to be on the drops although I find it helps, but I get better control of the steering, grip and can move my weight around easier on faster turns to get my grip. Are your brake levers too far out as you can sometimes adjust them? The brake levers on all my bikes are adjusted ju...

Re: Disk brakes
Isn't it funny how styles differ? I always brake from the hoods, even in situations where I need to brake hard, and find braking from the drops next to impossible (not that I ever really use the drops anyway - I think they're just there to attach a banana to).

Re: Question for Regulator
Well, I did my trip to Cambs last week, and cycled from Royston to St Ives as planned. The track I was asking about is the old road, now marked as a bridleway, and I would have explored it except that it was raining at the time and I wanted to get on. The main road was busy but not overly so compare...

Send our best wishes.....I hope FoL improves soon and the procedure is effective. We are just waiting for the results of a PET scan of the pancreas for my mum.....I'm trying not to think the worst. Getting old is a real bore. Amen to that, and best wishes to all indisposed Olds. (Years ago a friend...

Re: Cycling Related Odds 'n' Sods
Thanks Rocky! I was happy to think I helped him, although at the time it was a bit nerve-wracking as he clearly thought I was some kind of bicycle expert which I am very much not. I just wanted to get the wheels turning, and let Halfords deal with the rest of whatever the problem was (which I suspec...

Re: Cycling Related Odds 'n' Sods
While I was walking back from the shops today I met a young man looking very flustered and a bit exhausted, carrying what turned out to be a brand-new Apollo mountain bike that he'd picked up from Halfords earlier and on the other side of town. Apparently as he was nervously trying to ride it home h...

Re: Your Ride Today
I'm waiting for a train in Salisbury, having bailed on a 300km audax. My heart started racing for no apparent reason, even when descending. Seeing 200+bpm when my maximum is 185 was disconcerting, to say the least. Still, 200km done and I had time for a pint, so not a total disaster. You weren't a ...
