Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread

We're caught up in one of those clashes in the government guidance. We're in Wales, boy no.2's friend supposed to be joining us tomorrow. His family end self-isolation today as his brother tested positive. His other brother tested positive yesterday. Logic would say that the whole family need to con...

Re: UK politics

I think that the first thing that needs to be ripped out of politics right now is this culture of being detached from reality. Al and his mates think they're in some kind of performance. Take Rees Mogg and his comments last week about Hancock. It's like watching the two actors in that episode of Bla...

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread

Portugal cancelled. I'm glad that the move to Amber has made the decision for us as we were still undecided.

Most of the costs can be refunded. Now replaced with a week in St David's and a week in Aberdyfi.

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread

If anyone is interested, Hattie Mancock is due to face questions from MPs on the Health and Social Care Committee and Science and Technology Committee on the Government's handling of the covid-19 pandemic, as part of the Coronavirs: Lessons learned joint inquiry. This Thursday (10 June) at 9.30 a.m...

Re: Twitter watch

I thought I'd found fame after Howard Cox, he of that z-list campaign group FairFuelUK, replied to one of my Tweets. Then I made the mistake of replying to one of his tweets saying that drivers have to pay for cycling facilities while 97% of the population don't want to cycle. I think I've found the...

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread

Soooooo, Portugal holiday still on the cards for mid-July. We'll both be doublevaccined by then, though Boy1 (19) and Boy2 (16) won't. Easyjet are advertising tests for £60 a pop. What do you reckon? We can still cancel. Go for it? Anyone think that they'll drop the testing requirement to lateral fl...

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread

I know from being involved in trying to get informal carers vaccinated that the government have a habit of enabling the booking site to allow the next group to book online just before publishing the fact or even adding them to the front page. Managed to book my wife just before midnight Monday (she'...

Second Pfizer jab Thursday. A little bit of a hangover head, and woke up a few times feeling very hot in Friday night, but nothing else untoward.

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread

For those of you with travel booked, may I ask, is your criterion "as long as the government rules allow it, we're going", or are you going to be applying an extra criterion of your own assessment of risk? Would there be circumstances where the government allowed it but you still decided not to go?...

Re: Covid-19 Pandemic Thread

There was a specific issue in Bristol recently where the website was allowing a group (under 65s) to register, but the NHS didn't want people to before they had the invite. They had to put media messages out to try to counter the local FB groups telling people that if the website allowed then that ...
