Re: UK politics

May I very respectfully suggest that any analysis of the situation that runs "there is only one X to blame" may serve a useful emotional purpose but is nevertheless not exactly the sort of reasonable analysis we rather desperately need to foster right now? edit: didn't see Ransos's before pressing ...

Re: UK politics

Follow the link in the article. That particular claim derives from an opinion poll in which a very specific question was asked. There is only one man to blame for the widespread contempt in which Corbyn is held. His name is Jeremy Corbyn. Do leave off. I'm very far from a card-carrying Corbynite, b...

Re: UK politics

He puts the very prevalent view from the last few days, that the election was there for Labour's taking, and any half-decent opposition would have walked it, and the failure to do so is evidence of just how bad Corbyn was. But I don't think that's the whole story, or even the main part of the story...

Re: UK politics

It's a condition of my employment that I don't publicly advocate for any political party, which is proving to be somewhat frustrating.

I can say that tactical voting is unlikely to be an issue in my constituency, given that it's been held continuously by Labour since 1935...

You might need something a bit stronger than that.
Should I happen upon a process for home-brewing ketamine, I'll be sure to let you know.

Re: Meanwhile...

Brexit planning is proceeding well chez Ransos: the beer and rhubarb gin are bottled; loganberry whisky is steeping; apple and grape wine is fermenting. See you on the other side. Hic.

Re: Food stories

I'm slow roasting a shoulder of lamb over boulangere potatoes. The smell of garlic and rosemary is making me very hungry.

I also, for no great reason, decided to open a bottle of something special:

No, you can't. As I said, I'm not commenting either way.
That's a shame. I was hoping that you'd explain these complex problems to us thickos.

Re: Meanwhile...

We called at the Tebay services last weekend. They are very nice, farm shop, tea room looking over duckpond, homemade-style food, artisan local suppliers and all. But the sheer wonder of them not being the depressingly soul destroying standard offering does tend to blind one to the fact of them sti...

Re: Beer

Life has got in the way of brewing this year, but I finally managed to make a batch of special bitter yesterday. Plenty of Challenger, Northdown and Golding hops, 7% crystal, Fuller's yeast, pitched this evening and it's already fermenting. Should take the edge off Christmas with the in-laws.

The only people you'll be pissing off will be the poor sods in Royal Mail who will be wasting their time with your "joke". https://police.community/topic/254444-abuse-of-freepost-send-a-brick-to-ukip/?do=findComment&comment=1901697 Delivering letters for which they will be paid by the Tories. And as he's an MEP, if his constituents don't like his (stable) opinions, they have others.
Who, hopefully, are less likely to seek political capital from mocking their constituents.
