TV/Streaming shows

I had wanted to start a thread on TV (well, it was going to be netflix, but I realised there was no reason to be so specific) for a while. Seems like a good time to do so.

Wrap spoilers in "spoiler", ie

Code: Select all
<actual spoiler text>
eg
Don't click this if you haven't seen a movie in the last 20 years
Show
Bruce Willis was dead the whole time.
(over the last .... nearly 10 years .... my TV viewing has been via DVD then torrents then couchtuner and finally I've started paying my way again with Netflix. That means I haven't seen the latest BBC content - I don't go near iPlayer, and causes me occasional embarrassment like the time an EE ad came on and I said loudly - nearly shouted: That's Kevin Bacon! My companion left the cinema by another exit. :( )

I'm about halfway through the third series, and feel it's lost it's way rather. I will get it finished but I think they need to buck up their idea for the fourth series. The first two were excellent!

I know what you mean which is why im impressed they have gotten this far and kept the story going. The latest episode was very good which made me comment

Are you halfway through what is on Netflix now or are you caught up?
I really love The Good Place. It's charming and erudite. ** I haven't noticed a drop in quality in the third season, but I may have been distracted by ...
Mild spoiler for the location and in jokes in season 3
Show
... the Australian setting. The running joke that every bar and cafe in Australia is named Nemo made me laugh (even though I hadn't realised Finding Nemo was set in/around Australia). The American themed restaurant, as an Australian who once dined at the Outback Steakhouse in Wandsworth, left me in stitches.
The last episode, Janets, is a tour de force, and left me eager for the next season.
And the fourth second half of the third season has started well, and the new philosophical problem that the first episode ends with could lead to interesting explorations.

**Actually, TV is getting awkwardly smart; I saw two different US sitcoms that had an episode based around the trolley problem - The Good Place and Kimmy Schmitt. That seems like a lot.

SPOILERS!!!!!!
I'm around episode 5ish of series 3. It's improved a bit as the series has progressed I'll give it that much. I think maybe it's because they've had to make the big change from the first two series that it hasn't grabbed me in the same way.

I won't bother watching any of the Die Hard films now you've spoiled it for me.

Apologies. Every previous change of location was a new season. But I see that they have changed locations mid season 3.

First season, The Good Place

Kristen Bell, Ted Danson and some of the crew knew the full story arc of season one. This is the other major actors being told, filmed by Bell.

I'm in love with this guy

Robert Macfarlane is an absolute star........this is well worth 59 minutes of anyone's time. Watching it has reaffirmed by view that the outdoors is so important for my mental health.

Just finished binge watching Russian doll. I thought it was pretty clever with some good quotes. “ is it the nicest psych ward?” “It’s definatly the closest!”

Can I just say, if I have not said it before, that I am more than a little bit in love with Louis Theroux? If you missed his brilliant doco on campus sexual assault last night, you can catch it on iPlayer.

In fact I had a total tellython last night - Louis, Philomena Cunk and Fleabag. And I ate my own bodyweight in cauliflower cheese.

On Celebrity Bake Off just now, Russell Brand made an arty biscuit tableau of his wife giving birth to their daughter, featuring biscuit labia with pink piped icing decoration. I wanted to switch channels, but I was transfixed. Prue Leith said, "A massive vagina." It was fabulous. He won the show.
