Meanwhile...
Re: Meanwhile...
It's baaaaack (or it's friend)
50p for scale. It's big, right? I mean, not compared to a proper spider, but compared to the wimpy things you have here
not for Lullabelle

This is it on top of the radiator. Yes, I have lavender bags I purchased under duress from a neighbour on top of my radiator: and so?

Re: Meanwhile...
I have just watched, on YouTube, "Run Forever", a documentary about Nicky Spinks setting a new record for the Double Bob Graham Round a couple of years ago (well, she's only the second person ever to do it, so there was a pretty good chance she'd set the record...)
I had tears streaming down my face from about 5 minutes in and still do. I am clearly an incurable emotional softy and Nicky Spinks is my new all-time absolute hero .

Re: Meanwhile...
Double triple recommended!
I think his opening chapter, with its litany of fellrunning legends he reminds himself of to keep himself going ("Helene Diamantides leaving a bunch of snivelling paratroopers in her wake"), is some of the most evocative writing about the outdoors ever.

Re: Meanwhile...
Army patrolling with police at Liverpool Street Station. Did Boris declare martial law after getting a kicking from the Court of Session?

Re: Meanwhile...
If he did the news didn't reach Marylebone.
Red beret means military police, either being shown how to do the job properly by a real police officer or expecting a bunch of pissed-up squaddies to create trouble on their way back to Essex.
Austerity means there aren't enough soldiers to declare martial law successfully.

Re: Meanwhile...
The taxi to the airport will be here soon. I will miss this tree, so confident and what a show off.

Re: Meanwhile...
Winter will come, and then we will see who is still confident when they are just branches.
Lovely weather there, I see.
(how is there no envy emoji?)

Re: Meanwhile...
Just to be pedantic... what is pictured is not strictly speaking a tree - it's a climber.
Are we going to get any photos of the white trousers?

Re: Meanwhile...
If you are going to pick me up on my plant identification then you don't deserve any photos of my trousers.
BTW as a much travelled man, have you done Santorini? They do a nice line in Catholic churches.

Re: Meanwhile...
I hope they are churches and not chapels or even cathedrals, not to be pedantic of course
@Joan when you're sorting out the envy emoji could we have a whistle smilie please?

Re: Meanwhile...
There is a standard whistle emoji, but it looks like a smooch
How about being nonchalant
