I am happy to reduce the number I do. They do make me very tired
Ironically, it's a busy and tiring life that is preventing me from doing more night rides. Anyway, I hope all went well?

It was a good ride, although stressful at the start. I was trying to get a little sleep in when people started to text and phone to say that they were struggling to get to London because there was train disruption. I then struggled to get there myself for the same reason. I only got to the South Bank a bit after 11:30, so was behind on registration etc. I had about 7 names unaccounted for at midnight, when I had a call from one to say that she and another were 20 minutes away. I left Tim Decker with the route on my GPS to bring them along. One bloke went home at Clapham because it was too slow.
After that, all good. Scouts excellent, no-one died, lovely moon, and dawn. Most people seemed happy, got into Brighton about 8:45. Had a sleep.

This is the second year running when I won't have done a Friday at all - mainly because the thought of deliberately setting out to miss a night's sleep seems to have become too big a psychological hurdle. I blame old age.
I get that. On ride nights I feel really tired at about 7:00pm. It must be anticipation.

Didn't they used to be called unisex?

  1. I think unisex is typically a single cubicle, while gender neutral is a set of cubicles with shared hand basins.
  2. unisex is very 1970s

Sex and gender seem to have become interchangeable terms, whereas really they are two different things.

Long water, Hampton Court.

Yup, if I was Henry, I would have f'ed over Wolsey to get my hands on this .

Edit: if it's not clear, Hampton Court is the building directly in the centre at the far end of the water. But full disclosure, I don't know if Long Water was there when Henry took over this beautiful palace.

I have arrived! 22.4km in 4h43m with 481m climbed. Temp was about 24-25c from about 10.30. Very misty when I first set off but still warm enough to be just in a T-shirt.

The climbs weren’t too bad - the descents were worse. One about 15km in and then the one down to the bridge in Portomarin.

I’ve booked in but my bag hasn’t arrived yet so I can’t change. I’m going to head out and get some food. Hopefully it will arrive by the time I get back. Then it will be a shower and a siesta.

This is the “it’s 100km to Santiago” marker. 100km is the minimum you have to walk to get your compostela.

My walking for today is done. 21.2km in 4h11m with 560m elevation gain. I also hit the highest point I’ll reach this week - 720m on Sierra Ligonde.

I’ve checked in to my very upmarket hosteria (the most expensive night of the week @ €60 B&B), had a shower and I’m about to go and get some lunch... and a beer.

And as if by magic...

@Regulator, beer and trail pictures are all very well, but when are you going to meet the wife of Bath?

@Dunckel, yes - nature abhors a vacuum.
