I can't quite believe I have done this, but I just bought a mint plant. In my defence it was reduced to a quid, but it felt rather like buying a weed. I am going to plant it in a big pot, so I can make mint tea in a little glass infuser from China that I got from a charity shop.

In fact, I got two. Here they are - really fine and pretty, and not bad for 50p :-)

I seem to remember some weird superstition about mint plants, that it was bad luck to buy it.

Google isn't helping, so I will leave it there.

I've not heard that one. Someone told me once that if parsley grows well in a garden it means the woman of the house is in charge, and also that it's bad luck to give someone a knife (they have to give you a coin in return), but as I'm not superstitious I just laughed at such nonsense.

I recall its bad luck to plant it as it takes over the garden.

First year of nursing training done and dusted. Just finished 5 weeks at a hospice which was rewarding and inspiring.

Have a few weeks now to put my feet up and relax, looking forward to doing nothing :D

That's why I'm planting it in a pot!

My car is not well. They think it’s the dual mass flywheel/clutch. An expensive item to go wrong...

You could almost buy a bicycle for that.

I tried planting it in a pot, then burying the pot in the border. That was a mistake.

My most recent purchase was £25 for an old MTB. I could sub him the balance to give him sufficient for his needs.

Ive just placed a bet for Wout Pouls to win the Vuelta, I know he doesn't stand a chance but the £460.00 would be nice.

I don’t think I’ll be applying for one:
