Just wait until it rains, you're in for a new experience.
When it rains you are the first to know.

It's not about height, it is about sensitivity.

It's not the first time I have had short hair. Long hair is an anomaly for me. ironically, it's an anomaly that takes a year or two, so there is little element of surprise. Watching it come off in mirror was a weight of my head and my heart.

But - god damn it! - my ears are cold.

I keep my hair long at this time of year to the point of looking like Cousin It in order to keep my ears warm.

I had long straight blonde hair way back when that was the thing to have, but I got so sick of being defined by it (the one with the beautiful hair) that I got it all cut off one day. It was a fantastic feeling; as well as being free of the sheer physical weight of it, I felt lighter, in all respects.
"Luckily" my hair was never that beautiful. I had a friend with beautiful hair: blond, straight, waist length. It was unarguably beautiful, but it did nothing for her face. It made her look sallow, spotty and sad. A wrench to cut, but a relief now it's gone.

My father and I had orthogonal views on how my hair should look. I'd look in the mirror and say "time for a haircut" and make an appointment. Between then and the appointment, I'd visit my dad and he'd say "your hair is starting to look nice". This happened more than once. Each time he thought I was still an angry teenager, rebelling against him.

I live about 800m from the Leicester City training ground. Before every home match the Chairman's helicopter descends over my house as they arrive for the game. Yesterday I watched it out of my front window as it turned up. After each game it transfers the one mile from the training ground to the stadium to pick the Chairman up. Again, last night just after 8pm I heard it take off and fly back over as usual.

Leicester feels to be in shock today, and collectively very sad.

That was truly shocking and my heart goes out to the friends and family of the dead. My heart also goes out to Leicester. It’s so sad.

I don't suppose for one second that any of you did but, in that unlikely event that you missed The Ghan on BBC Four, a visual and audio three hours of train porn, watch it on BBC iPlayer.

It was quite bizarre. It ended in Darwin but there was nothing there.

A big flap in the village this morning. Our branch of Barclays got ramraided last night. The used a large crane/forklift to demolish the front of the building and extract the cash machine. Woollards Lane (which is effectively the main street) is shut off as the police forensics people crawl over the crime scene.
