I will be going with the owners of the company I work for, they are not generally regarded as party animals.
They might be looking to you then.

The Caberet bars of Berlin are one thing, but some of you may know that I own and play very badly a Deering Banjo.
Now I baulk at much of American culture, but without the slightest hint of irony I love bluegrass and I am becoming fascinated with clogging and spoons. So with a genuine grin on my face:

If it's Morris dancing you want, Oxford will have a shed-load of it tomorrow on May morning. I'm going to have a lie in.
I'd like to 'like' that but I can't like any Morris dancing jokes....sorry.

I often have conversations with a Morris dancing hater - I am in two minds about it myself, it being a fine traditional thing like many others. On the one hand it is quite nice, in these times of "toxic masculinity", to see men prancing about with flowers in their hats flapping hankies at each other. On the other hand it is seriously awful.

I had my apprasal today, they are done on a traffic light code, dark green is the top-all tickety boo, light green-a few issues to be addressed, amber-a lot of issues to be addressed, red-you are in deep doo doo, I am dark green *smug* Really pleased by how it went, boss has given me a couple of objectives which are do-able so all good. He asked me about my future with the company and retirement, am I looking to retire? Well, yes at some point!

Well done, Lu - sounds like you've had a productive year. I have to say my experience of appraisals, particularly in my last job, is less than positive. One year I spent 90 minutes discussing the health of my boss's Boston terriers - and no, I wasn't a vet (neither was he). Our university had a policy that we could never score/be graded better than satisfactory (as the giving people the top grades would apparently devalue them).

The company is making changes and my new boss and I have been tasked with money saving and various other bits and bobs, it feels good to be given the opportunity to be involved with developing rather than just turn up every day and plod along.

I also had my appraisal today, my boss asked me to describe myself in three words. I said "lazy".
