My Dad (78) has at last decided it's time to retire from his (unpaid, sometimes just about full-time) cathedral job. I don't suppose he'll retire from the other things he does.

I (50 as of a few days ago) am also looking at how best to move away from full-time work.
Belated Happy Birthday. I trust a good dinner was involved?

Radio 4 is serialising a reading of Elena Ferrante's new book The Lying Lies of Adults. I've not read any of her stuff, although I've heard radio readings and dramatisations - it seems OK, although I can't see what people get so excited about really. Unfortunately the current reading is ruined for me by the reader adopting the voice of Marge Simpson for Aunt Vittoria, I can't get the blue hair out of my head ;D.

Yes thanks. Another one next weekend - we're thinking of the Hawksmoor at Home steak blowout to go with the bottle of self-vintage Barbaresco and one of the bottles of self-vintage port I was given.

You youngster.

(From someone who is officially half a century and 17 days old)

Happy birthday. I hope your day is whatever you want it to be.

Took my multitool out of the pannier today for the first time in months, and found that one end had disintegrated. I'm none too sure I've retrieved all the bits - and there are three different size washers and I've no idea which goes where....

Think of it as an opportunity to remodel it as you would prefer.

Be sure to have a washer or two left over, then you can be sure you've put it together properly.

I was 51 during lockdown, but as far as I'm aware it doesn't count and there's been an extension put on birthdays similar to the one on MOTs, so I think that means I'm still 50.

I am going dark here, and possibly too far into David Croenenberg's back catalogue, but that looks like props from Dead Ringers.
