I had a flat tyre today - totally my fault, target fixed on a rock in the middle of the cycle lane - and wheeled my bike into a Royal Park so I could fix it on the grass.

No less than 7 men checked that I had everything I needed! Seeing not everyone carries tools, that might have been everyone who passed who could have helped.

I am flabbergasted. Helping someone fix a tyre, or lending your tools could expose you to virus transmission.

Those men are heroes!

But damn, now I have to offer the same to any cyclists I see. Right?

This is actually a rather mundane photo. But on our daily ride at the moment, everything seems deceptively beautiful, every ride a delight, as we rediscover the beauty of our local area.

Yes, our straightened times heighten our senses and our pleasures. Let's hope that, along with giving other people space in public situations, we remember all this afterwards.

Small, but greatly to be savoured, pleasures out on the bike this afternoon:

I'm fortunate to have a good climb just a short distance from my door.

EMC is the early morning group I sometimes ride with before work. We're each leaving messages on the local hill for the others to discover.

A cheeky pre-lunch 20 miler in the glorious sunshine today.

Lots of cyclists and walkers out today.

I preferred it when it was quiet.

I'm envious.

What was that little out and back diversion just south of Heathrow for? (I don't know that area).

Nothing. I just wanted to hit exactly 100km, didn't plan, so just kept random perturbations going.

Though Heathrow is shockingly quiet now,it's probably worth a visit. Another day.

Fasted? Really? Why?!

For 100km I'd want to eat well, before, during and after. Personally I'd have gone in the other direction, too. But that's a matter of taste.

because I wanted to see what I could do fasted. Quite a lot, it seems.

I'm fat adapted, so being well fed or not is much the same now. Yesterday kind of proved that, but I did crave an iced coffee when I got home, and perked up after having it. Not sure if it was the milk or the caffeine that was most important in that drink.
Personally I'd have gone in the other direction, too. But that's a matter of taste.
it's not really a matter of taste. I just picked a direction. I much more often go the other way. In fact, I started out heading towards Surrey, but moments later changed my mind.
