The N (km/miles) ride a month challenge

I want to set myself a monthly goal this year, and make sure I go on at least one long ride each month. I am not sure how long "long" is, so I will set my initial goal to 50km (the shortest long ride), but will up that to whatever my longest ride in January turns out to be.

Anyone else care to partake? With only 20 or so of us, we can't have a separate thread for every goal.

I'll go with you for now - 50km per month...

Bun stop at Egham Waitrose: 30km in, so should make at least 50km today.

Otherwise I'll be sleeping rough in Shepparton ❄

I’m walking the Pennine Way in July. So my cycling will be curtailed in favour of walking. I did 9.5 miles today.

Finally noticed the title did not mean what I was trying to say, and so thus have now realised what @Regulator has signed up for. Oh well, just me playing then? No problem.

Have you hit the big 5-0 so far this January?

Well, this was over a week ago, but it obviously going to be my longest ride for february. Makes the cutoff, so that's ok.

I am really missing my Brooks: this is about as far as I can go on the stock saddle.

Good for you Joan......my cycling mileage is zero at the moment. I’ve decided to walk the Pennine Way in the summer and so all my training is on two feet.

Edit: oops I seem to have already mentioned that. I must be getting forgetful

Sponsored walk in aid of the local memory clinic, isn't it? ;)

I'm trying to cultivate an image of a slightly forgetful academic wandering the streets of Oxford mumbling to myself and looking bemused.

So far it's not been too difficult.

The problem is differentiating it from ‘demented old loon’ or ‘local alcoholic tramp’... :P

Not really feeling it, so keeping doing the same ride at the end of the month.

And still haven't replaced the saddle 🤕
