13 Tory Turkeys voting for Christmas is a big of a stretch don't you think? I cant see it myself.Regulator wrote: ↑7 years agoI'm not sure that she'll win the confidence vote tonight (don't forget that she wasn't supposedly going to lost last night's vote by such a margin). I think there may be sufficient rebellious Tory MPs who see this as a route to leveraging a second referendum (as May will be so desperate to win the next vote of confidence that she may concede to it).

Re: Bollocks to Brexit
I think she'll get through the no confidence, but I think we'll end up with the second referendum eventually. I have no idea what could be on there, Vince was on something or other earlier saying he believes it should be Mays deal and Remain. I can't see that, surely Mays deal is gone now? First order of business needs to be extending, although I'd rather see it revoked, article 50. There's no time to negotiate another deal or have another referendum or GE before the end of March, and then we're into the Euro elections.

If they are Tory turkeys in strongly Remain seats then, yes, I can see it.

Ooh look - the alternative plan* from the ERG.
It really is the most disingenuous pile of tripe I’ve read for ages.
*i use the word ‘plan’ reluctantly, as its really just a mishmash of unevidenced assertions, wild predictions and fingers in ears ‘la-la-la-ing’.

I'm thinking Parliament will be paralysed from here on in.....so my money is on no deal. There's part of me that feels this is the only way to demolish the ERG project fear claims - many many people will suffer as a result. My kids will certainly work and live abroad. Mrs R and I are tempted too....

I can't see a GE significantly changing the split in the commons. We'd be back where we are now but just further down the road of uncertainty, all the time haemorrhaging jobs, money and business.

Talk about ‘Project Fear’...
It’s the Civil Contingencies Act 2004... and it doesn’t apply in these circumstances.

May losing the vote of no confidence today won’t necessarily mean a General Election. It would hand the Remainers in the Tory Party a very strong bargaining chip in any subsequent confidence vote.Sonic Budgie wrote: ↑7 years agoI can't see a GE significantly changing the split in the commons. Re: Bollocks to Brexit
I've given up arguing or even listening to people on Brexit. I'm just back from M&S in Oxford - the checkout person lectured me on the failings of May and the problems of immigrants. I so desperately wanted to say that we are all descended from immigrants (me from Scotland, the Prof from Germany) and immigration is what has made the UK great but I bit my lip and kept quiet.

They are not wrong. I have no idea who Dermot is, or what award Ant&Dec have won, but I want to read that article.
Also, Daily Star for 1/2 price? Show me how!
