I can't be angry about a fire. Extremely sad, certainly. I can get angry at people using the tragedy for their own ends.

Ile de la Cite and Notra Dame played a part in one of the most wonderful nights of our life, I am heartbroken for the people of Paris.

The Prof and I cycled to Paris in December 1986. We sat outside the Cathedral taking in the French atmosphere, thinking what a special place it was. It, too, will stay in our memory.

It's not anger. I cried. I just wanted to share the emotion, so didn't want to start a thread about it.

I toyed with the idea of starting a thread about sadness - but ....we don't want that, do we?

(I will split the topic if the conversation deems it necessary)

We sang there for Sunday mass in the early 90s. There are buildings in Paris I like more, but as a symbol of the unity of European civilisation (especially for a musician) there are few to match it.

Presumably a certain cyclist from another place has pledged his €100......bloody peasant

Being closely associated with a child with very real and physical anxiety issues, this makes me particulary angry...

I agree 100%. With the mass media behaving like this, it’s no wonder kids get anxious.

Guardian takes a BH Monday to kick back and terrify us. Yeah, we need terrifying, but still.

Aside: I am a staunch republican, but so glad to see the "good news" of baby SIgmund's birth at the end of that miserable screenful.
