I had a text from the GP about 3 weeks ago, inviting me in for flu and covid jabs on one of two open days. I'm 51. I went last Saturday. Very well organised and no queuing. It seemed like they were using every space and every member of staff. One in each arm, out of the door in less than 5 minutes.

Felt a little bit under the weather the next day but otherwise fine.

You don't have to wait 3 months from having Covid. It's now '28 days after positive tests/symptoms'.

I had almost forgotten just how bad it can be, no wonder some people were hospitalised or worse...wowser.
Friday I had a splitter of a headache which left me light and sound sensitive, went to bed around 5pm because the pain was so bad. It is only today that I can now tolerate curtains open and brief look at social media.

Well, I got Covid for the first time last week. Relatively mild symptoms- no worse than a rather bad cold for two or three days - but then on Sat I woke up with my first episode of AF for 15 years. Bugger.

I was ambulanced off to hospital back in August with the same, cardio aversion to reset and all is now fine(ish).

I've been lucky - each time I've had an episode, I've been converted to sinus rhythm fairly easily by drugs, (flecainide). I am aware most people who have AF have a harder time - many people have to live with it chronically, or try ablation.

With my GP's approval, I now have a sachet of flecainide at home, and the next time I get an episode, I'm not going anywhere near an A&E, I'm self-dosing.

I've got intermittent AF. I'm down for cardioversion but it's some months away. It's also not really an option for intermittent AF as you need to be in AF when it's done. I'm planning to ask the consultant about going straight to ablation.

I saw a cardiologist last week, has taken me off apixaban and is going to talk to the consultant about some other drug, which name I forget. Echocardiogram booked for some point in the future.
