A few years ago, I got bitten by a cat; canine tooth plunged deep into my calf. (Sad story elided) I not only needed 2 courses of antibiotics, but a tetanus shot. I said to the doctor "I am hosting an Irish wake. Can you prescribe something that doesn't interact with alcohol?"

I'd advise this course of action to you in the future.

(it technically wasn't Irish and wasn't a wake, but that was the easiest way to describe it.)

Sadly the £29 only includes 1 G&T, and you have to get to the end of the 10k. I became less interested when I read that. That's less than would get me through a 4km march against Brexit.

If you can find a UK supplier (you may be able to get hold of it via Amazon), I can thoroughly recommend Nordes Galician gin.

We got given a bottle of Bolney Estate 'Dark Harvest 2017', which we tucked into on Friday. I'm not normally a fan of English wine (other than the sparkling type) but I was very pleasantly surprised with this wine, which went very well with rare steaks.

I can't see it on the Bolney Estate web-site but I did spot it in our local Waitrose. I'd recommend giving it a try.

Does the finer things include poncy food, because tonight we're having the tasting menu at a posh restaurant serving New Nordic Cuisine.
