An Orval for me and a Rochefort for him. Two of the great beers.

Get the Kwak, for the amusing glass if nothing else.

Belgian blond, fruity and spicy. Nice.

You're messing up! I've been loving the tour photos that feature nothing related to cycling, but are those bicycles in the background? And a helmet in the foreground?

Please, focus on the beers!

Another fruity and spicy blond beer. Pleasant. Our lobster was being flambéed out of shot.

I'm now on a boat back - the bar does not look promising.

Perish the thought, my dear TRR. I must now turn my thoughts to excuse preparation for when the credit card bill arrives.

The one on the beach at lunchtime was quite refreshing too.

Life has got in the way of brewing this year, but I finally managed to make a batch of special bitter yesterday. Plenty of Challenger, Northdown and Golding hops, 7% crystal, Fuller's yeast, pitched this evening and it's already fermenting. Should take the edge off Christmas with the in-laws.

Seeking something to lift the mood, and deflect my attention from the state of my country, I opened the fridge and pulled out a beer I have overlooked for a couple of months.

It is a pleasant enough, clean and fresh example of a gose beer but a bit unremarkable. Oh well.

Better. Good flavour, and delivers on the promised peanut butter but a little bit thin on mouthfeel. Still, as it is only brewed to 5.5%, that is probably a bit churlish.

Slightly odd. I normally associate chocolatey beers with richer, less dry flavours.
