Odd auto-save behaviour

This may just be me, but....
Earlier today I drafted most of a post and didn't post it. The auto-save feature saved it on the device I was using at the time, but not on a different device. Which is odd - I'd expect auto-save to work server-side, not device-side.
Later, having moved away from the site for a while, and having edited the post I pushed the "submit" button, and nothing happened. Which, again, is odd.
