I like likes. I also very much like not seeing who has liked someone else’s posts. It helps me to be more objective in my own assessment - I am not so arrogant as to assume I am immune to a herd bias. But I also like being able to find out who has liked mine.
I think the present system is about right

I hope that you are not asking me with any expectations of a sensible answer.

My post appeared twice because I was getting error messages about insecure urls.

Same here re likes and insecure URLs.
In the meantime, so you know, I've liked every post on this page but keep that to yourselves please.

I also got the Ajax error and insecure url messages, but as I don't know what any of that means I just ignored them and kept trying. Sorry I couldn't like the bits of this thread that I like, but I do quite like the likes anyway, so ... as you were.

I do not understand why it broke, but I think I have fixed it. Please report any further problems.

You turned it off and back on again didn't you?
My brother works in IT, he tells me all the secrets

I tried that at first. It didn't work
So, thank you Google,
changed "Enable URL Re-writing" in server settings to Yes, and "Force Server URL settings" to YES

@Joan sometimes I get a notification that somebody has liked a post of mine, but not always, in fact, not usually. Should I not see them ever, should I see them always, or should I see them occasionally as a little treat every now and then?

Thanks
@Sonic Budgie. That's a bug with the like system.
I will update it, if that bug is fixed, or a better like system is released. Don't hold your breath.
You can monitor your personal likes (if you are OCD like me - not diagnosed, BTW) with your personal like URL
