Did I mention I was retired? I might go for a nice ride this afternoon.

We leave Lulworth today, a lovely place but I wouldn't come here during the school holidays. Anyway, Poole tonight where we are meeting up with a school friend of mine for beers and a fish stew. It could get messy.

Just don't use the knife, fork, and spoon for the beer.

I just learned something about bees (off the radio): if you spill honey all over your jumper (as this young man did on a camping trip), hang the jumper on the washing line and bees will come and clean every last bit of the honey off. How have I lived so many years on this earth and not heard of this before?

Gravel is on tour with one of his university friends. They are cycling from Munich to Venice. EasyJet smashed his mate’s rear derailleur and they had to replace it and straighten the frame on day 1. Day 2 his mate’s pedals fell off - they realised that they had put them on the wrong way round after the flight. Not bad for two Cambridge graduates, both with a first.

They’ve just stopped for lunch

Report back on the fast-pouring beer situation.

I am forced to say, superb. As well as brewing Neck Oil and Gamma Ray, there are cans of 8Ball, Lupuloid, and Smog Rocket, and all at £5 or less.

Is that the one with the retractable pitch to permit american football? I read an article about it in an engineering journal and couldn't help wondering if there was just a touch of needing a problem to justify the solution 😀

Yes, the pitch splits into three sections which retract under one of the stands. Once there, with water and artificial light, it has five days.

I woke up with a sore throat yesterday, and I now have a rip roaring chest infection. So it looks like a trip to the quack for some antibiotics (if I can get an appointment)... :(
