A large section of Kingston Upon Thames was cordoned off today, while the army was dealing with 250 kg of WWII ordnance found in a building site. It was destroyed in a window rattling controlled explosion which I missed, sipping coffee in the far end of Surbiton Waitrose.

Re: Meanwhile...
There's a Chinook doing circuits over south West London. Has there been a mass breakout from Wormwood Scrubs?
Edit: currently hovering over The Old Deer Park.

@Joan I can report that it is chucking it down and blowing a gale in Melbourne. It’s also very dark.

Re: Meanwhile...
Last time I was in Melbourne in June, people were rugged up , wearing boots and overcoats, complaining about how cold it is, the local free newspaper had a article about "marves" (scarves for men!).
And the weather?? 18 C and some showers. The London forecast on the same day? 18 C and some showers. And what did some showers mean? It rained for about 20 minutes every day then the clouds completely disappeared and it was blue sky the rest of the day.
(Melbourne's weather is notoriously changeable, so you might not get this. However, if you are looking for hailstones the size of golf balls -or indeed venomous spiders the size of golf balls then Sydney is the place for you.)

Oh no!! We are flying to Fiji that day to visit no. 1 son. The weather forecast shows a bit of rain but not too stormy.

And thinking about it, Friday is when we leave UK, so arriving Sunday.
And to think that when I took early retirement two months ago, I was basking in the thought of never having to do long haul flights again....
