I was so pleased with my prototype homemade mask until my brother pointed out who I look like....

Did anyone see the solicitor from Birmingham on national BBC news last night? The story portrayed (partly by suggestion and omission) was of an otherwise healthy man with coronavirus who almost died in hospital.

The bits missed, which make all the difference, is that he's an injecting diabetic. He didn't need ventilation in hospital and is now home and recovering.

This could easily have been presented as a high-risk person who contracted the virus but survived without invasive treatment and will recover fully. But the BBC chooses to continue to worry the country.

Sounds remarkably like the treatment pathway of our beloved PM...

Heaven forfend if anyone were to suggest that was being overplayed for political reasons.

Was working in our local Nightingale today with 7 or 8 others. One of the buildings on our Center Parc type holiday place has been taken over and coverted for use. It'll have around 150 beds and has 3 wards and a palliative unit.
They also added portakabins onto the building, which they've converted to shower and toilet blocks, they have put corridors and cladding and suspending ceilings around to incorporate them into the existing structure. I went there 5/6 years ago and can vaguely remember this particular building, the transformation is astonishing. I was having a chat to a couple of the staff from the park and they were saying they can't recognise the place or find their bearings.
The beds are due next Thursday apparently, so I expect we'll be back up there then, unless something turns up in the meantime that needs shifting.
We had been told previously that it was going to be used as a recuperation centre, we've been told today that it's going to be used as a treatment centre, with the 3 wards for different severities. They have an area outside for a temporary morgue if it becomes necessary.
Fingers are of course crossed that no one will end up there, but if it's needed, it'll be ready.
I would imagine, although I don't know yet, that the gang that went today will be the ones that end up there if it becomes operational as we have some familiarity with the layout. They were saying they would be having ten porters to provide 24hr cover between them.

My fear at the moment is that it won't be needed at the moment, but will be come September and the second wave of infection. Especially if restrictions are eased too quickly.

That's a very kind thing for you to say, thank you, but I'm just humping stuff around so better people can do their jobs.

Yes, the people I was talking to were boss level, the building has to be returned as it was, and, as they have a business to run, they want that to be as soon as possible (in the nicest possible sense I hasten to add). There was even mention of a worst case scenario where the Parc is operational at the same time as the hopsital.

Why are they using Centre Parcs while places like this are empty?

People are clearly being driven mad by this.

That's not actually a hospital. In that context the 'Field Hospital' is the group of people.

If I recall correctly, they're actually involved in staffing the Excel White Elephant.
