Your Ride Today

Well, not today obvs, because the weather is horrible. At least it is here - torrential showers and high winds. But any other day - where have you been and how was it?

We’ve spent the last 6 days walking the Ridgeway - so today will be my first ride for a week. I’m about to head out for a cheeky 26 miles through the Oxfordshire lanes on my Thorn Nomad. Given the state of my knees and ankles,  it promises to be a PW (personal worst) for me.

Way to go Joan!

I've just stopped for a coffee.

I'm just back from getting wet.......27 miles round the lanes west and north of Oxford. I didn't see another cyclist - they seem to be a bit soft in this part of the world. Here's a gratuitous picture of my Nomad, taken when the sun was shining.

edit: all of my piccies seem to come out sideways......I suspect it's a phase I'm going through

My ride was supposed to be to lead a group from the pub down to the closed streets circuit for Let's Ride Leicester. However it was hammering it down at the time, so it didn't happen.

I pottered about the streets of London with a bunch of friends, looking at little streets and alleys. Despite the gloomy forecasts we only had the occasional spot of rain to contend with, and lunch/late breakfast at The View Tube was grand.

I found that if this happens it can be corrected by opening the image in your usual device (my PC usually), turning it through 90 degrees so it's sideways on, closing the image, re-opening it, and turning it back upright again. It will then post in the right orientation. Don't ask me why this works (or how I discovered that it did) but it works for me!

Half a mile to the station, then five hours of trains, then three and a half miles from Stone to Yarnfield for a week's cycling at the CTC Birthday Rides. Hoping it won't rain every single day ...

26 glorious miles in the autumnal sun. Not much breeze and a treat not to have to wear a waterproof jacket.

I'm trying this bikepacking mularkey tonight: leave work early, ride down to Frome on cyclepaths and bridleways, set up tent, go out for curry. Ride back to Brizzle tomorrow via paths and bridleways again.

Wow! Sounds fun. Mrs R and I rode our Bromptons down to Frome (from Oxford) 6 week’s ago. Part of the route took in the Ridgeway - I’ve decided that 18” wheels aren’t really the thing for off roading. It’s beautiful countryside all the way.
