I decided to make my own ras el hanout, inspired by some rose petals I got in this month's Gin Club box, which I shall be using for a tagine tonight. It's the first time I've made it myself (I usually get it from a little shop on Mill Road, where they do their own blend). The proof will be in the eating...

Pickle? As in pickled chutney, or as my punkahwallah used to call it, chatni? Still poncy, just a century older.

What sort of cheese? I bet it's some poncey posh stuff from the Oxford Cheese Company or the Jericho Cheese Company...

(There's a lovely quote in one of the Smiley books about the civil servant Oliver Lacon 'who always liked to nail an abiguity'.......pickle is such an ambiguous word)
