Seen any good art lately?
I am really looking forward to this: https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesig ... ate-modern
That image (Eine Kleine Nachtmusik) is one of my favourite ever paintings; it stopped me in my tracks the first time I saw it. Tanning was an amazing artist, challenging and well ahead of her time.

I hope to make it down to Buck House later in the summer to see the Royal Collection's exhibition of more than 200 Da Vinci sketches, it should be a corker.

Re: Art News
Two months after feeling excited about the Dorothea Tanning exhibition, and having forgotten all about it in between due to being distracted by life events, I am actually going to see it next week, before it closes.

I suppose it is an approximation of what she looked like, but I don't much like it.

The sculptor of Victoria Wood also did Eric Morecambe, and Laurel and Hardy. I think they are better likenesses, but they still seem slightly crude compared to, say, Gillian Wearing's tender portrait of Millicent Fawcett.

Re: Art News
You can buy your own scale model of the Wood statue. Only £1500...

Apparently she rather liked the sculptor's works. It takes all sorts.

If you're having a bit of a bad day this guy is the perfect antidote - what a street art hero. He paints exquisite miniatures on discarded chewing gum, all commemorating people and events that have been requested by passers-by. And he does all sorts of other inspiring stuff as well. And he's got an antique Pashley, apparently. (You can bung him a coffee fiver through the link at the end of the article.)
