Ha ha....I do hope someone does. I have been gobsmacked by the online abuse the Prof got last night when she announced the paper would be published at midnight. Hoards of Brexit trolls replied to her tweet dismissing it and her before it had even been published. It confirmed @Dunckel's observation about the nastiness of Twitter. The sad thing is that Brexit will damage the health of many of these trolls.

Can't find the link right now, but it transpires that the government (small g, they don't deserve the respect of a large one) have just clocked that all goods entering the EU from outside have to be on Europallets. We can use any old pallet at the moment. There is a desperate shortage of Europallets. Nowhere near enough for uk business to ship into the EU post apocalypse day. Cue panic stations behind government (small g) closed doors as they realise that this will bankrupt businesses.

I have a bit of an odd Brexit-related question…

As a result of Brexit, I am getting Irish citizenship (I’m eligible through grandparent rights) in order to maintain my Freedom of Movement options in the EU. As I already have dual citizenship (British / New Zealand) I may have to give up one (and this would be the British) in order to get Irish citizenship.

If I do give up my British citizenship for Irish citizenship (noting I may not have to), and bearing in mind the special provisions around residency and working for Irish citizens in the UK, do I have to tell you as my employer? I know there are a ‘right to work’ requirements for employers, which I have previously fulfilled by giving you evidence (my passport) of my British citizenship.

Queue much scratching of heads by the HR team who, after a call to the lawyers, decided that if I do give up my British citizenship for Irish I’ll only have to provide evidence of Irish citizenship - and that effectively nothing will change.

This Guardian article this morning, by someone who knows what he's talking about, is well worth a read. I liked his optimism, if you can call it that, about the inevitable long-term failure of anything approaching a no-deal exit.

I read one of his books on holiday once, it almost ruined it.

However he's brilliant on political panel shows.
