I guess that depends on whether or not we want discussions to follow the CC model of categorization.

In that case, why not just have one huge thread and put everything in it? Personally I find this mixed-up discussion of various topics unsatisfying and hard to follow, and this software not as easy to use as the tried and tested CC version. It's not always clear who is responding to what. I think chunking discussions is a good approach, which is why most forums use it.

This thread was intended, I believe, to be more lighthearted and whimsical(ish) and - although I agree that politics is ingrained in all parts of life - it might be helpful, if we want to divert off on to a more serious in-depth discussion of a political/current event, to create a new thread.

Whereas I much prefer topics to be allowed to meander and flow. I thought that the multiple categories and rigid moderation on CC stifled debate.
