Send our best wishes.....I hope FoL improves soon and the procedure is effective. We are just waiting for the results of a PET scan of the pancreas for my mum.....I'm trying not to think the worst. Getting old is a real bore.Regulator wrote: ↑7 years agoLast week was a bit of a faff, as the father-out-law was having issues with his hips/pelvis and getting nowhere with the NHS. I managed to get him a same day appointment with a consultant at one of our hospitals. He then needed an MRI and various blood tests. Given his history of cancer there was some concern about the presentation.
He had the results today. Good news and bad. No 'nasty surprises' but it turns out he's managed to crack part of his pelvis - probably in part due to weakening of the bone due to previous radiotherapy. He's likely to need a minor procedure next week but other than that there's little that can be done besides using crutches to take weight off the joint and rest until it eventually heals.
Unfortunately, he can't drive at the moment and the MoL doesn't drive. Jon's nurse is on leave at the moment, which makes it hard for him to get time off, so it's fallen to me to chauffeur FoL to hospital appointments (including one on Saturday, which is why I had to cancel the Piec-nic), etc.

Amen to that, and best wishes to all indisposed Olds. (Years ago a friend always used to call his parents "The Olds", and was creased up with delight one day when he saw our new car, which was an Oldsmobile

Got the results of her scan today, luckily my mother hasn't got pancreatic cancer but seems to have a stone or some type of stricture of a pancreatic duct......it means an op (gastroscopy under GA) but that is far better than what we had been contemplating.

Slightly less worried than before the diagnosis, but yes I'm worried for her. Plus there's some difficult family dynamics playing out which complicates things. Having said that, a couple of bottles of Black Sheep Ale have turned my evening around

We’re weekending in Norfolk, and having lunch in Cromer:
We’re heading to the 1940s weekend at Holt later.

1940’s? Won’t the rest of Norfolk get freaked out by all those people from the future?
